Kenny Blackmore 1949-2010
An old friend from fifty years ago, I didn't get a chance to see him for 35 years. We had a bittersweet reunion at the Sandman Motor Inn in Princeton. He and his wife Jenny were managing the hotel in the fall of 2009. He was able to take me back to memories of times we shared in the 1960's...the next morning, as I was leaving, I was sitting beside him on this bench looking at hill that heads westward out of Princeton towards Manning Park. "I may not see you again", he told me. He went on to describe a medical prognosis that did not sound promising. I heard from his daughter on my birthday the following February that he had passed away the night before. We all miss you Kenny.

Doug Bain, Superintendent, Canada Post, Bowmanville, Ontario
In 23 years of working for Canada Post, I encountered less than ten supervisors that I felt had integrity and honestly, coupled with the empathy a decent person should have to do his job effectively. Doug is such a person. He gave me an opportunity to return to Canada Post in 1988 that had been denied me by other staffing people who were intent on being punitive towards me because of animosity towards my wife.
I believe, in the 23 years I spent at Canada Post, I vindicated Doug's actions in giving me that opportunity. In addition, he is one of my friends who let me drive his Harley. This painting of Doug and his Springer Softtail is based on a photo from one of his trips to Daytona Beach...Doug also knows how to maximize the moments.
